The short video clips–all 1,327 of them–show basically the same thing, with variations: a camera pushing forward through nature, an abandoned structure or facility. The sound, however, varies drastically from clip to clip. In #82 the audio seems to be of a jet passing overhead. Without proper context, who can say what these clips mean? Who they were intended for, and why? The clips arrived on a thumb drive taped to a heavy-stock yellow index card labelled, in black ink: RESISTANCE ITERATIONS: DAYTIME MANEUVERS. There is no human presence in any of them, other than the implied presence of a camera operator. There is–how to say it–a certain tenderness in some of the camera movement.
